Hospital closures may redistribute residency slots away from underserved areas
An analysis of 19 closures of hospitals with residency programs found that a total of 819.6 residency full-time equivalents and $123 million in Medicare GME funding were transferred to other hospitals. Receiving hospitals were less likely to be urban and more likely to be large.

Study finds wide variation in ED physicians' hospital admission rates for Medicare patients
